Hotel

Info & Rates

Group Rate: $119 per night

  • Plus fees & taxes
  • Number of rooms available at this rate is limited so please book early
  • Choice of two full beds or one king bed per room
  • Includes wi-fi, pool and exercise room access
  • Does NOT include breakfast but you can add breakfast during your reservation

Booking Instructions

Important Update. The hotel is out of double rooms at this time, so when you go to our special booking website, you will only see king rooms available. If you do not really need multiple beds, please book a regular king room. If you really need multiple beds, here's what you can try, in sequential order:

  • Call the hotel to book. Say that you are booking a Salu-salo room and ask if they have any double room available (this will come from cancellations at this point).
  • If no double room became available, ask to be booked at a king room with a sofa bed (there's a handful of these rooms that the hotel reserved for us).
  • If no more king room with a sofa bed is available, ask if you can get one of the rollaway cots to be added to your king room (there's also a handful of these cots that the hotel reserved for us). You will need to pay extra $10 per night for the cot (discounted from $25 per night).
  • If no more rollaway cot is available, you can just go with 1 king bed, book 2 king rooms, or book at another hotel. Booking two king rooms at our negotiated rate may not cost that much more than booking at another hotel at the regular rate.

Book Online. Please click the Book Hotel button on this page or book here. Once you select the proper dates, you should see the discounted room rate on your screen unless our room block has already been used up.

Book By Phone. Please call the hotel at (650) 598-9000 and mention that you are reserving one of the Salu-salo rooms.

Book Early. Our discounted rate is guaranteed until our room allocation runs out or until the reservation cut-off date of June 20, 2016, whichever comes first. Reservation requests received after this date will be accepted at the sole discretion of The Sofitel San Francisco Bay on a space and rate availability basis. If the group rate is not available, the prevailing public rates will apply for any confirmed reservations.

Cancellation Policy. All reservations must be guaranteed with a major credit card or accompanied by a first night room deposit. If an individual with a guaranteed reservation does not check in or cancels the reservation less than 24 hours prior to arrival, the individual’s credit card on record will be charged for one night or the one night deposit will be forfeited.

For any questions about reservations, please contact us here or email norcal@salusalosasf.com.

Other Hotel Information

Check-in time: 3 pm. Attendees may be checked in earlier depending on occupancy levels and room availability.

Check-out time: 12 pm. Departure extensions are based on availability at Hotel’s sole discretion and may be subject to additional charges.

Airport Transfer (printable flyer). The Sofitel is about 12 miles and 20 minutes in normal traffic from San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to and from SFO from 6am to 11pm every day, with one shuttle leaving the hotel on the hour. If you want to avail of this service, you have to call the hotel at (650) 598-9000 upon arrival and let the hotel know where (or which airline you arrived in) to pick you up. Please note that there are only 6 seats available on the shuttle so there is no guarantee that you can get a ride immediately. Taking a taxi from SFO to the hotel will cost around $50-$60 one way. If there are two or three of you traveling together, it may be more convenient and cost-effective (even including parking as long as you have your own car insurance) to just rent a car as base rental rate can be as low as $20-$30 per day for a small to regular sized car.

Parking. Our discounted parking rate is $12 per day (regularly $24), which includes in and out privileges. Valet parking is available for regular rate of $30 per day. Event parking for people not staying at the hotel is a flat rate of $5 (instead of hourly rate) with NO in and out privileges. Please have your parking ticket validated at the registration desk before you leave to get the discounted rate for event parking.

Food & Restaurants. There are three on-site places to get food at The Sofitel. Bay 223 serves California-inspired French cuisine and is open 6 am to 11 pm. The Bay Bar besides the lobby serves drinks and food and is open from 11 am to midnight. Finally, there is The Marketplace, a small coffee shop serving pastries, sandwiches and beverages to go and is open 6 am to 10 pm. As with most hotels, there is also room service, which operates from 6 am to 2 am.

(USA)

How much is the registration fee? What does it cover?

The registration fee for Upsilonians and Sigma Deltans is $299 ($260 for Philippine-based brods and sisters). Other details can be found here.

The registration fee covers the following reunion events: Welcome Reception, Kambingan Talent Show, Plenary Sessions (for brods/sis only), Grand Ball and Sunday Brunch.

Separate fees will be collected for the Golf Tournament.

Alcoholic drinks are not covered. You may need to find a more senior brod to buy you a round!

Why is the registration fee not lower?

While we tried our best to make the registration reasonably priced, the overall cost of living in the San Francisco Bay Area has made it a big challenge. After we did widespread canvassing (getting cost information from numerous hotels, restaurants, caterers, venues, even food truck franchises, and other service providers for equipment, audio and logistics), we were originally compelled to set the registration fee significantly above $300. Because we wanted to keep the fee within a fairly reasonable range for brods and sisters, we committed to setting it under $300. Even with the registration fee set to $299, this won't be enough to cover expenses, which we expect potential sponsorships will make up for.

For Philippine-based brods and sisters, we decided to reduce the fee further down to $260, shouldering a bigger shortfall, in order to get more Philippine brods and sisters to come, because we'd love to see all of you in San Francisco in July!

For reference purposes, 2 recent reunions held in the United States were comparable to the 2016 reunion in San Francisco: the 2012 reunion in Las Vegas and the 2008 reunion in L.A. (The 2014 reunion was held in Manila and the 2010 reunion was part of a Caribbean cruise from Florida.) The registration fee for Las Vegas was $339 and the registration fee for L.A. was $300. Considering inflation over 8 years since 2008 in L.A., keeping the registration fee under $300 for the 2016 reunion was already a big step.

While staging an event in San Francisco is not an inexpensive exercise, the NorCal chapter is committed to giving all attending brods and sisters a wonderful time. Considering everything that San Francisco has to offer, we're definitely in a great place to start with!

Is there any discount?

Yes. Register by January 31, 2016 to get the early-bird rate of $269 ($240 for Philippine-based brods and sisters).

Why should I register early?

In addition to getting a discount if you sign up by the early-bird deadline, registering early will help us with our planning to make sure the reunion runs smoothly and make it totally fun for everyone. This will give us ample time to make arrangements so you don't have to line up too long for that buffet table!

Even if you don't get to register by the early-bird deadline, please register as soon as you can.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

If you need to cancel your registration, let us know no later than June 8, 2016 (30 days before the event) and we'll give you a full refund. Refunds are applied back to the original form of payment. For check payments, a refund check will be mailed to you.

Hotel room reservations are subject to the hotel's cancellation and refund policy.

Where is the reunion?

The reunion will be held at beautiful Hotel Sofitel San Francisco Bay, a 4-star luxury accommodation located in Redwood City about 15-20 minutes from San Francisco Airport. More information about the hotel can be found here.

We have negotiated a very affordable group rate of $119 per night with the hotel.

How can I book the hotel?

You can book your hotel room online by clicking here. You can also book by phone by calling (650) 598‑9000 and mentioning Salu-salo.

How can I get to the hotel from the airport?

The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to and from San Francisco Airport at certain times of day. More details can be found here.

Alternatively, you can hitch a ride with a brod or sis to start the fellowship early. Rental cars, Uber and cabs are also available at the airport at all times.

What other things can I do in San Francisco?

As a popular tourist destination, San Francisco has a lot to offer to people of all ages and to families of all sizes, shapes and forms. Among the countless choices available, we have compiled a short list here.

I have other questions that are not addressed here, who can I ask?

If you have other questions or need more information about the reunion, you may send us a message here or email us at norcal@salusalosasf.com.
